The Translation Grant 2024 of the National Culture Fund of Bulgaria once again supported a translation of a Booker-nominated Bulgarian author.
She who Remains by Rene Karabash was translated by Izidora Angel and published by Sandorf Passage. The translation from the Bulgarian by financed under the Translation Grant 2024 of the National Culture Fund of Bulgaria.
The nomination contributes to the ever-greater presence of Bulgarian authors on the global stage.
The support of the NCF was also crucial for the translation of Time Shelter by Georgi Gospodinov which won the 2023 International Booker Prize. She who Remains’s nomination for the International Booker Prize is yet another evidence that strategic investment into translations produces tangible results that elevate Bulgarian culture’s global presence and participation in international literary exchange.
